Being your own boss is not just a saying it’s a lifestyle. It’s a way of living, a way of thinking, a way of disciplining yourself. Taking control of your life and holding yourself accountable. Understanding everything starts with you and ends with you. So, let’s get into it…
When I say Be, I am talking about becoming something. You need to first become a new you. A better you dedicated to your progress. As children we are all told we can be anything we want to be when we grow up. Its true, if we focus, grind, and work hard we can become whatever we want. In this sense we are talking about becoming your own Boss. One employee One manager One owner. That’s who you will become.
When I say Your, I’m talking you. Most of the day we are on someone else’s time. We don’t have time to think for ourselves. We need to start shifting that mindset. Start focusing on yourself. If you are going to be your own boss and take control of your life you will have to focus on you. You can’t help anyone else if you are struggling so get your ish together. Take responsibility for you. Start with disciplining yourself to do things to help you progress.
Own up to everything. You have to man up or woman up, and own it all. It takes to much energy to lie and make excuses. You just have to accept things as is. Don’t lie to yourself don’t make excuses for your shortcomings. It’s your life own it. Don’t let life own you. Don’t just get up everyday and go through the motions, start moving with a purpose. You only have one life to live. You are either going to take control and own your life, or others will take control and own you. They will tell you when to get up, what to wear, when you can leave to go home. Have a plan and take control of your life. Don’t just lay down and let the world own you.
To be a boss is the greatest thing. However, if you can’t discipline yourself to do the right things you are not a boss. If you only have one employee and that employee is you, but you can’t control your employee then you are the problem. You have to realize your mind is the boss your body is the tool to get the work done of your mind. Command your body to make healthy habits and do it.
When you get the BYOB down pack, life is amazing. You see things differently and you will make things happen. You will start feeling accomplished and be a lot happier. You are a Boss the ruler of you now you just have to own the title. Be Your Own Boss take pride and take control. I believe in you!!!
This is a touchy subject for me. If you don’t know me here is a brief background. I was in the military for 8yrs. I was injured during deployment and started my entrepreneur journey. During this journey I have met many people. Some helpful some not so helpful. Recently I started joining Facebook groups. In these groups I see a lot of false profits. So, in a sense this is my way of trying to protect you from following the wrong people like I did in the beginning.
What is a False Prophet?
A lot of people live by the mantra fake it until you make it. They pretend to have all this money nice cars big home and get people to follow them. Remember every that glitters isn’t gold. I personally fell victim to these people. I followed them blindly and religiously. Everyone wants to be the hottest thing out but nothing to really show for it. Nothing of substance to teach because they never did it. In this type of situation, you must pay close attention to them and go with your gut.
What to look for?
When I am introduced to a new person the first thing I do is research. I start looking up who this person is. They may not be a big name which is fine. But you need to become a researcher and again trust your gut. Don’t let the superficial stuff fool you. Listen to them, is what they’re saying making sense. Do they have people to back up their claims? I personally watch a person for a few months before I spend a single penny with them. I read their comments and see what others are saying. I look for trends like people jumping all over the place business to business. New opportunity to new opportunity. Here is my thing if you are really making that kind of money then why would you keep switching companies?
How to decipher the real from the fake
The false prophets are all smoke and mirrors. They show you shinny things and expect you to follow. The real people making the money from my experience are not flashing you shinny things. Instead they are teaching you something. That’s the difference one offers shinny things one offers education. I hate the mantra fake it until you make it. At the Anti-Poverty Message, the mantra is Don’t Fake It Until You Make It, Just Make It. Not to say that these people flashing shinny things don’t have anything to teach you. I am saying watch them closely and make the best decision possible.
Stay opened minded and protect yourself. One false prophet will cost you time, money, and energy. You will burn up your warm market and get frustrated. It will make you quit before you even got a chance to get started. This was me, this really happened to me and I know its happening to many others. Don’t be that person. If you want to succeed you need to be moving forward. Speed is the key to success. In our life time we will all have touched a million dollars. But we are all not millionaires. The reason why is because it took to long to make the millions. Point is don’t let the false prophet add time to your journey. Research, research, research. I look forward to seeing you at the top.
Is money your issue? Do you find yourself always looking for a new job? Do you find yourself making more money and ending up with more bills? These are common problems. Many of us have never gotten any financial training. For me it was pretty much trial and error. I made some mistakes along the way and I still do. However, I also learned some valuable lessons which is what I will teach here.
Is money your issue? The answer to that, is it depends. Every now and then yes, we need more money to survive. For the most part money is not the issue, we are. Yes, that’s right you are the problem in this equation. We tend to live outside of our means and end hurting ourselves in the long run. What people call keeping up with the Jones's. Let me help you by breaking down some very basic strategies that anyone can follow right now.
Step 1: You need to write down every single bill that you have. I mean everything Netflix, Tidal, Gym, etc.
Step 2: Put a price next to each bill. That way you can physically see what’s going on. I normally make a 12-month chart. I write down and track every penny I spend on bills. You should do the same. Start monitoring where your money is going.
Step 3: Add up all your bills and add up all the money you make for a month. Subtract the bills money from the money you made. If you don’t like the number left over then make some adjustments to where you are spending your money. For example, If I made $3000 a month and had $1250 in bills and didn’t like that I need to make some cuts somewhere.
Step 4: Get rid of nonessential bills. Start getting rid of bills that you don’t need. When I say bills you don’t need, I’m talking about bills that if you cut them off nothing will happen. Netflix, Tidal, Gym, Hulu, there are tons of other subscription websites but those are just a few.
Step 5: Start funneling all that money from those bills to bills that you can pay off. For example, car note. A car note can be paid off and that’s one less bill for you. So, when you cut off your non-essential subscriptions funnel that money to your car note. You will pay your car off faster and start having a lot more money once the car is paid off.
Step 6: Discipline yourself to not over spend. This is a hard one for me because I love to spend money. But I have a system. A lot yourself a certain amount of money each month that you can spend, and don’t go over. Practice until you get it right.
If done right, you will see that you have more money than you thought. In some cases, you will need a job to make more money but not always. I am an advocate of having multiple streams of income. I’m not an advocate of having to kill yourself to do it. Strategize, focus, and discipline yourself. Its no point in making more money if you can’t manage the money you have.
We have all been in a situation where we couldn’t believe someone would do that. A position where you sat there and thought, did they really just do me like that? I want to take the time to write about a few situations myself and others I know have encountered in the credit businesses.
STORY 1 THE ORIGIN
Before I go into the story let me give you the lesson. Don’t under value your product or service. So, my partner and I always have a disagreement when it comes to pricing. He likes to set low because he wants to make it affordable for everyone. So, one day he was working on a Credit Repair for a client. They paid $150 to $300 I can’t remember the exact pricing at that time. Why’ll in the process the client agreed to settle and pay the $850 on one debt. He said no we can get this removed. After he got it removed he suggested you could just pay me a little bit extra instead. They said don’t do me like that. Lesson here if you want more charge more upfront.
STORY 2 THE PAYMENT PLAN
Every now and then we get a client that really needs our services and cannot afford it. When this happens, we put people on a payment plan. I hate the payment plan because we have so many deceitful clients that come across our table. For example, I was working on a client’s credit. Once we got to the final payment the client realized we were pretty much done with his credit. He decided not to pay the final payment. We discontinued service but so much was done, and we lost in that situation. We get this all the time. Don’t do me like that.
STORY 3 THE OPPORTUNIST
The lesson here is beware of opportunist. So, we get a lead for credit repair. I send a text message and contact the client. We were getting so many people contacting us I needed to limit the phone time. So instead of calling every single person I started creating pretyped text. I sent the lead instructions on how to sign up plus it came with a checklist. She couldn’t figure it out and wanted to talk on the phone. So, I get on the phone and we talk. I walk her through everything and then I run a credit audit. It pretty much lets me know what was going on with her credit, so I can map out a game plan. Now a few things to keep in mind before we go further we had super discounted our price $450 less for the end of the year. She wasn’t ready until after that special was up. But we still honored the discounted price. Then when I looked at her credit audit she had 20 plus negative items per credit bureau not including hard inquires. Normally those will be student loans or medical bills but not in this case. They were individual negative accounts, so I know she didn’t pay her bills. When it came time to make the payment she asked will she pay when we finish the work. Here keep in mind we offer 100% back money guarantee if you don’t see anything changing at the end of 45 days. Also, we are not charging you for credit repair. We are charging for our time and resources used in order to prepare and send everything off. With the super discounted price and the amount of work that needed done, I said no you have to pay us upfront. She passed on the deal. This my friend is an opportunist who had no intentions on paying us.
Don’t do me like that and don’t let people do you like that. People are always trying to get over and will only do what you allow them to do. Control the situation. Ill add more blogs of situations we encounter because you may be experiencing them as well.
A lot of people complain about what they don’t have. They complain so much that they miss the opportunities right in front of them. Opportunities come and go but we must minimize these missed opportunities. So, lets dig into this.
So many people ask for opportunities. Then when an opportunity presents its-self they turn it down. Here is an example. You know you need money. You’re tired of your job. You want more out of life. Then someone walks up to you and presents a business opportunity. The first thing you ask is. Is this one of the pyramid schemes. I don’t want to do that. I’m not interested. Not realizing that you where just looking for an opportunity. It just presented itself and you walked away.
The lesson here is you need to stay open minded. You need to take every inquiry seriously and see if it will work for you. Stop discrediting everything that comes your way. You should be to the point where you have no choice but to turn down opportunities. For me, I took on as many as I could I learned as much as I could as fast as I could. I encourage you to do the same.
The second part of this is you need to learn to give up the money. Don’t let money be the reason you do not take on a new opportunity that could potentially change your life. You get up everyday and go to work. You get paid every week or every other week and then what. You spend your money on bills and things you don’t really need. Then at the end of the week or two weeks you get paid and do it all over again. The point is the money comes and goes.
Priorities, that’s what it comes down to. You must decide which is more important. Your money or your freedom? Is that money more important? The truth is you will make more money, but that opportunity will not be there. Now let’s get a little more personal. Let me tell you about an opportunity I missed.
Awhile ago I was told about Bitcoin. Not just once but multiple times. An Army friend and a Multimillionaire told me to invest. I passed up on that opportunity. I didn’t take it seriously. At that time Bitcoin was worth about $50. Today as I am typing this a Bitcoin is worth $11,763.49. What a mistake I made. So, it happens.
Let’s bring it all home. Bring it all together. If you want to stop missing opportunities, you have to keep an open mind. You have to realize that, that small amount of money to get started is not as important as the potential outcome.
Working from home can be very lucrative. Think about it, you dont even have to leave the comfort of your home and you have the potential to make more money than you do at your day job. It sounds so easy. But like many of us know that's not the real world. We have real life distractions. We have the three F's Fatigue, Family, and Friends. When you're working from home you have to manage the three F's your day job and your home based business. By the time your done reading this you will know exactly which direction to move towards.
Your first task is going to be to find how much time you really have to dedicate to your business. A good way to figure that out is write out your day. Write out everything you do and how much time you spend on that task. Figure out where you are not spending your time efficiently and eliminate it. For example watching TV, playing video games, talk on the phone to long, taking extra long naps, to much time on social media. All of these can be used in a more productive way. Once you do that schedule in a time everyday just for your business. Write out exactly what your going to do in that specified time. Do not deviate. Work that task or tasks until you are done. Get an accountability partner someone who will check up on you to make sure you are on task.
Some of us are fortunate enough to have an office in our homes, however some of us are not. Either way it doesn't matter because we have to find away to get that quiet time we need. Don't let not having an office in your home be an excuse. You will need to sit down with your family and explain to them what you are doing. Let them know from this time to this time you will be working on your business. Put your phone on do not disturb that will eliminate people outside of your household distracting you. If you are like me with younger children that you have to look over use sleep as your weapon. As soon as they fall asleep you go to work. You work like you never have before. Its going to important that you have a schedule in place for that prescribed time. That is the only way to stay on task and get it done. You can also get your friends and family involved with what your doing. Give them little task to do so instead of them being a hindrance they are actually helping you.
This is a double edged sword. You want to have some down time because you dont want to burn yourself out. However you dont want to have to much down time, to where its hurting your business. Just like you set time aside for you home based business you need to set time aside for your family and friends. Do not just neglect them. If you manage your time properly you will know that there is enough hours in the week to do both. The only time that there will not be enough time for both is when you are about to push to the next level. That's when you will have to be what we call unbalanced. You will have to focus all your time and energy on getting to that goal. Once you get there then you can relax and become balanced again.
This journey you are on in the beginning will seem hard. However, once you get started you will see that it gets easier and easier to the point that it feels effortless. You will have a feeling of self satisfaction and you would of learned a skill that so few people have learned. Write out your goals, look at them every day. Keep reminding yourself of the end results and why you are working so hard. Don't look for balance look for ways to make it work.
Christmas isn’t the only time that we should be creating a list. Creating a list is one of many tools used to ensure your home-based business is organized properly. In traditional business also known as brick and mortar businesses you have a place designated for business. Everything that goes on in that building is for that business, or should be. When you work from home you have so much more going on. You have children, friends, spouse and all too often you can get sidetracked. This is where a list comes into play.
Make your list. Start out yearly, monthly, weekly, then daily. Buy a white board and hang it on a wall where you will see it no matter what. Write out all your daily task on the white board. Time block your task meaning if you can do them both at the same time or one right after another. For example, going to the store to pick up supplies than stop by the bank. This will save you time and keep you more organized.
The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today.
